Job Description


The Vehicle Dynamics Engineer will perform ride, handling, and steering development of OEM vehicles for Brightwing's client. Working with a lead engineer, tires, steering, and suspension components will be specified to meet program performance targets, using a combination of simulation, objective testing, and subjective methods.

Responsibilities:

- Subjectively evaluate ride, steering, and handling performance; objectively measure other certain attributes.

- Coordinate prototype vehicles, parts, and union mechanic activities.

- Execute and document development activities and present results.

- Handling testing can be physically demanding. Significant amount of travel required during winter months.

- Primary location is Chelsea, MI, with occasional trips to Auburn Hills, MI headquarters.

Requirements:

- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, Mechanical preferred.

- Performance, medium-duty truck and/or trailer towing driving experience and proficiency.

- Vehicle ride and handling subjective evaluation experience.

- 5+ years' experience in one or both these areas is required.

- Strong understanding of automotive steering and suspension components and function.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Excellent problem-solving skills.

- Ability to lead when required and proven team-building skills. Organized, self-motivated, work as required to support projects.

- Proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

- Flexibility to work either at Chelsea, MI, Proving Grounds, or Tech Center in Auburn Hills. Significant amount of travel, 2-3 weeks at a time during winter months.

- Previous experience in automotive ride and handling, steering, and/or tire development preferred.

- Data acquisition and data processing skills preferred.

- Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics theory and application preferred.
